Taking the Years off: Laser Wrinkle Reduction

09.28.09

There are many different methods of natural wrinkle reduction that take the form of daily or weekly routines that can help the skin to be healthier and more vibrant, even after the years have gone by. The skin does not replace itself as quickly with time so that the process of completely replacing all of the skin cells in the face and neck takes up to sixty days rather than the thirty days of youth. This causes the skin to look duller and it also becomes less flexible and buoyant so that it begins to crease where it is folded when making facial expressions throughout the day. These lines are the wrinkles that people want to remove through various methods including laser wrinkle reduction.

The Power of Light

Laser wrinkle reduction comes in two different methods, using different lasers. The first method usually uses a CO2 laser which helps to take off the top layers of the skin so that dead and old skin cells are removed, exposing the newer ones underneath. This helps to bring the deep wrinkles up to the level of the skin so that they are not longer visible. This type of laser wrinkle reduction also helps to stimulate collagen, which is beneath the skin, so that it is stronger and more elastic. This makes the skin more able to ‘bounce back’ rather than form new wrinkles due to the facial expressions made on a daily basis.

The N-Lite lasers do not remove the layers of skin but they do help to heat the collagen layers which stimulate it to become stronger and healthier again. These lasers do not require quite as long a recovery time as the CO2 lasers since there is not the burning away of the top layers of skin.

Laser wrinkle reduction is costly and is considered an out patient surgery. Those who are interested in using laser wrinkle reduction must seriously consider the cost of the procedure. Although the procedure is effective in most cases, especially for those with deep wrinkles that do not want to get a face lift, it does at times require multiple treatments, which usually last for several years before needing another treatment. In addition, there is a one to two week recovery period for laser wrinkle reduction which is not an option for many people to consider, not being a standard sick leave from work. Laser wrinkle reduction is very painful and can leave the face swollen and oozing during the recovery period, which is disconcerting to people in recovery in addition to the pain.

Does It Really Work? Wrinkle Reduction Cream

09.25.09

There are many different wrinkle reduction creams on the market today that all tout their benefits to the skin for making it look younger and more vibrant. However, many of these creams really do not have much more benefit to them than an average lotion, so finding the best wrinkle reduction cream is important so that money is not wasted and frustration does not occur over the lack of results. Wrinkle reduction creams can be expensive, especially those that have collagen or Botox added to them which help the skin to have a more full and youthful look to it. Some can cost over one hundred dollars per container, which will usually last a month before needing more.

The benefits of good wrinkle reduction creams as compared to other methods of wrinkle reduction are that they are not as expensive as professional methods and they are also not painful to use, as other treatments can be. Wrinkle reduction creams are usually applied to the face and neck areas after the daily cleansing process has been completed in the morning and the evening. This allows the skin to be fresh and clean so that the maximum results can be obtained from the wrinkle reduction cream. There is not recovery time or any other detrimental effect on the individual from the cream.

Other Methods of Wrinkle Reduction

Laser wrinkle reduction is another popular professional method of wrinkle reduction besides the wrinkle reduction creams. There are different types of lasers that are used, such as the CO2 or the N-Lite lasers, but they all produce basically the same effects on the skin. It is an out patient process where there is a topical anesthetic administered to the area being treated so that the layers of skin cells can be burned off and the collagen underneath can be stimulated so that the skin is healthier and stronger. Because the laser is used, the recovery process from laser treatment can be as long as two weeks, depending on what needed to be treated and the type of laser that was used.

Unlike wrinkle reduction creams which do not have any pain involved in the process, these laser treatments are painful and require pain medication for at least a couple of days after the treatment is completed. In addition, the treatments will have to be repeated for those who have deeper wrinkles so the entire process, meaning cost, time and pain, must be repeated to get the deeper wrinkles eliminated.

Methods of Wrinkle Reduction

09.21.09

As the skin gets older it begins to lose its elasticity and strength so that it begins to sag and also form wrinkles instead of maintaining its shape. Dynamic wrinkles are the first to appear in most cases since they are formed by the face repeating certain facial expressions which cause the skin to fold in certain ways over and over again. Eventually the skin begins to ‘remember’ the way it was folded and not longer has the elasticity required for it to ‘bounce back’ to its original condition. There are also deeper wrinkles that are eventually formed from the effects of gravity, usually forming jowls running from the sides of the nose by the sides of the mouth down to the chin. Each of these types of wrinkles can be reduced by home remedies as well as professional methods.

Skin Care

It is important that a person begins to take care of his or her skin from an early age in order to prevent wrinkles from occurring for as long as possible and keep the skin healthy. Washing, exfoliating and moisturizing the skin daily, usually twice per day, is an important part of wrinkle reduction. Once wrinkles occur, there are wrinkle reduction creams and other remedies to help to lessen the depth of the wrinkles and possibly to eliminate them altogether. These creams are often costly, especially if they actually work, often costing up to one hundred dollars per container which usually lasts for a month or so.

There are also home remedies for wrinkle reduction such as massaging the face and neck on a daily basis. To do this, the person should start in the neck region and work his or her way up to the forehead, covering the entire face during the process and either rubbing or pinching the skin in a circular motion. This helps to stimulate the blood circulation in the face which helps in wrinkle reduction by strengthening the tissues beneath the skin, making it look more full and buoyant. In addition to massage, another wrinkle reduction technique is to use green grapes, cut in half, to rub on the deep wrinkle areas. The juice should be left on the skin for about twenty minutes before being washed off with water. Anther fruit that is beneficial in wrinkle reduction is the core of a pineapple, which should be rubbed on the wrinkles of the face and neck and then left for ten to fifteen minutes before being washed off.

Do Sealing Wrinkle Treatments Work? A Review

09.18.09

For many people, wrinkle treatment and wrinkle reduction are an important part of the health and beauty regimen. But many individuals do not relish the expense and discomfort of injection-based treatments such as collagen and botox, nor the fat grafting techniques that plastic surgeons sometimes use to treat wrinkles. Topical treatments are preferable for these individuals, and a number of products exist that can help improve the appearance of skin and erase or reduce fine lines and wrinkles. One of the more recent developments in cosmetic technology is known as wrinkle sealing treatment. A review of available products and their properties will help you decide if this form of cosmetic enhancement is for you.

Olay Regenerist Filling and Sealing Wrinkle Treatment

The primary cosmetic manufacturer with a product designed for sealing wrinkle treatment is Olay. Their Regenerist sealing wrinkle treatment has been reviewed by a number of users, with varying results. Some users were enthusiastic in their endorsement of this sealing wrinkle treatment; their reviews report a noticeably improved appearance with respect to fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and lips, and also reported that the Olay product did not interfere with makeup. Other users, however, noted little difference after using the product. Some stated that it should not be used under foundation and that very little difference was noted in the appearance of lines and wrinkles after using the product.

How It Works

According to the Olay company website (www.olay.com), Regenerist Sealing and Filling Wrinkle Treatment works by creating a micro-bonding network on the surface of the skin that works to hold in moisture (the “sealing” part of the equation). At the same time, it penetrates into the tissue of the wrinkle, working to reduce the appearance of the wrinkle’s depth and length (”filling”). The company recommends using the product in conjunction with a daily moisturizer for best effect.

Hype or Hope?

As with all reviewed wrinkle treatments, sealing treatments can be expected to vary in their effectiveness with different individuals. Topical treatments will generally be observed as more temporary in their effects, since substances applied to the skin in order to “fill in” wrinkles are not truly absorbed by the skin, unlike substances that are injected, such as collagen. However, by moisturizing, users may notice a beneficial effect from sealing and filling wrinkle treatments. As with any product, you should exercise caution and observe carefully any discomfort or negative effects. Review sealing wrinkle treatments with your doctor or dermatologist if you have questions or concerns.

Reviewing Anti Wrinkle Products and Treatments

09.14.09

The fountain of youth, although mythological it may be, signifies man’s desire for eternal youth. Modern science, though not as magical and romantic as the fountain of youth has found ways to at least satiate a little  of man’s desire to stay young by offering options to look young at least little bit longer.  Science has created the anti wrinkle treatment, by targeting what makes people look old science has made what was once highly impossible possible. An anti wrinkle treatment may not make you or your cell younger, but it will at least make you outward appearance look young, although temporary an anti wrinkle treatment’s effects may be.

Type of Anti Wrinkle Treatment

There are two types of anti wrinkle treatment that have been reviewed extensively by skin experts. The first type utilizes injections or grafting. This type of anti wrinkle treatment requires the expertise of a medical practitioner. The dermatologist or qualified plastic surgeon will analyze the patient’s skin to recommend whether injections or grafting will be required. Having this option for an anti wrinkle treatment means undergoing a lot of exams. The patient’s current state of health and medical history must be verified and put to account. This type of anti wrinkle treatment is considered an invasive procedure therefore a high degree of caution must be undertaken by both the patient and the doctor.  The second type of anti wrinkle treatment uses anti wrinkle products in form of creams and lotions. This option is less expensive and does not require does require the advice from a medical practitioner. Of course, these topically applied anti wrinkle products must be on a daily basis, and are most effective against the shallow wrinkles.

Understanding Anti Wrinkle Treatment

Aside from aging, there are many contributing factors why people develop wrinkles. The effects of sun exposure, gravity, and even facial expression are considerable in the formation of unwanted lines. An anti wrinkle treatment works by trying to fill in the creases of wrinkles. For example, botox, a serum derived from the bacteria that causes botulism is injected. The effect of this anti wrinkle treatment relaxes the facial muscles which will result to a smoother surface.  Collagen can also be injected, and can create a taught look in the affected area. Sometimes, fat tissue is used as an anti wrinkle treatment. Fat tissue is grafted in areas where there are a lot of wrinkles. Again the object here is fill in the area so that skin becomes smooth and taught. Choosing the right anti wrinkle treatment for you through reviews and research is the best way to go in one’s attempt to look young.
